About Me

I grew up in a small town in Northwestern Ohio.  I have two sisters, one older and one younger.  My parents have been married for 35 years...a rarity, I know.  After graduation, I moved to Chicago and attended The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  There I studied painting, fibers, animation (film), printmaking, and creative writing. I lived in Chicago for 5 years before returning to Ohio.

Upon returning to Ohio, I studied for my Masters of Arts in Education.  I was a licensed art teacher, however, I've let the expire.  I teach 2D design, Fundamentals of Drawing, Art Appreciation, Art History, Painting, Intro to MAC, and Digital Imaging at a local community college and an area University.  I used to teach Composition I, but now I focus mainly on the art classes.  My goal was always to teach on the collegiate level, I just didn't think I would go straight there.  That being said, I am an Adjunct.  So, to make ends meet, I also Tutor writing at the community college as well.

When I am not teaching/tutoring, I'm usually chasing around my two year old and trying to keep up with the two teenage step-kids.  I am a pop culture junkie.  I DVR a lot of shows and watch while I write/craft/make art.  I differentiate between art and craft and find the discussion regarding this quite interesting.  I  often blur that line.

I really got into blogging over my spring break, but with the end of the semester craziness, I haven't had much time.  I'm looking forward to my 3 week break in between semesters to be able to blog more.  I'm really starting to love link up parties.  I like to read about others' lives and see great ideas and it also motivates me to post/  I like to look at yummy recipes and watch cooking shows, but in no way cook gourmet or even really healthy food like the recipes I look at for fun.
